Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
FEES, PAYMENTS & INSURANCE
The cost for the initial intake session is $175.00, and the cost for each subsequent 55-minute session is $150.00.
The full fee of the session will be charged to your account unless you contact us 24 hours before your appointment to inform us that you will not be able to make the session.
We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Aetna PPO insurance plans. We will take care of billing your insurance, so that you can get the help and encouragement you need without the hassle of dealing with insurance claims.
If you have any other insurance plan, we are happy to provide your insurance providers with a super-bill for reimbursement.
We are committed to you and your family's privacy and confidentiality, and want you to have complete control over your health records. Submitting a mental health invoice for reimbursement carries a certain amount of risk to your confidentiality, privacy, and future capacity to obtain health or life insurance or even a job. That is why we caution people to consider their risk to privacy prior to billing insurance for mental health services.
Payments are accepted in the form of cash, check, or credit/debit card. As a healthcare provider, we also accept payments through Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). Regardless of your preferred payment form, we require a credit card to be on file as a contingent for late cancellations or missed sessions.
All co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket fees are subject to be paid in full at the time of the service unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
We offer reduced rates for those who experience financial hardship and are not covered by insurance. Your rate will be based on family income and circumstances, and can be discussed with your therapist. Please indicate on your intake form if you are seeking a reduced rate.
Questions about your bill can be directed to your individual therapist.
We understand that emergencies, life events, illness, or logistics with childcare can interfere with your ability to make a session. We are accommodating but we are also attempting to provide health services that are based on reserving a set time that is set aside for us to meet.
Our cancellation policy is that we ask clients to please provide us 24 hours advance notice in the event that you cannot make a session except in the case of emergency which is at the discretion of the therapist and you to discuss. In general, communication with your therapist may go a long way toward accommodation and rescheduling as it does not bring us joy to charge late cancellation fees. We are very grateful for you being respectful of our time.
BEGINNING COUNSELING
Scheduling an appointment with a therapist is easy! You can contact us through phone or email. Or, if you are ready to begin the intake process, you can go ahead and fill out our New Client Intake Form directly, and one of our therapists will reach out to you!
YES!
Please be advised that all our clinicians maintain their own schedules, and may not always be available to take on new clients. In those cases, you can choose to be put on that specific counselor's waitlist, or if you prefer, we can schedule you with another counselor who has an opening.
That's a great question! Finding a good fit with a counselor is just like finding a doctor who you like! We appreciate the complexity that comes with choosing the right counselor for yourself. If you find that you are not having a good experience with your therapist, we encourage you to have a conversation with them, so that they can help you in the process of either figuring out how to make your counseling experience more effective for you, or refer you to a different counselor who may be a better fit.

YOUR FIRST SESSION
During your first session, you will be provided with insight and information on what the counseling process will look like. Your therapist will discuss confidentiality and any limitations to confidentiality, our practice's policies, and your rights and responsibilities.
Your therapist will then guide you through some questions that will provide your therapist with insight on any presenting concerns that brought you to seek counseling. These questions will also help us to assess how those concerns impact you in your world, your safety, and your strengths.
Finally, your therapist will work collaboratively with you to identify and create goals and a plan to address your presenting concerns, mitigate its impact on your world, and instill hope that we will get to a place where you can celebrate healing.
